TOP TIPS ON JOIN CLUBHOUSE

The new audio only social media site, JOIN CLUBHOUSE, is intoxicating, fun, spontaneous and an amazing way to create new opportunities for your business.

I joined up about 3 months ago now and have become, admittedly, a bit addicted!

After a year of working completely by myself at home, with no ability to speak, travel and network as I have done regularly for the past 19 years, JOIN CLUBHOUSE now brings me the ability to do it all - speak, educate, connect, network with brand new people and learn from others, all at the same time - from the comfort of home, without being on video!

No longer do I have to spend hours and hours of my time creating content to get someone’s attention, to educate, to meet others. I can just talk and I can just listen, 24/7 -whenever I want to amazing thought leaders in their respective fields.

Not only that, I can host others to be my guest in my CLUB where they kindly allow me to pick their brain, for hours on end - if we both have the time.

How amazing is THAT?

Most recently, one of my spontaneous rooms on a Saturday late afternoon was joined by Daniel, the Design Director of Renault America, and we had a fascinating conversation about trends in car interiors. How did he find my room? I have no idea, but there he was, listening!

He graciously agreed to pop up on stage and then he chatted with me, and all those who were listening and participating for over an hour from his home in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Guess what’s coming next for Renault’s car interiors? I can’t let the cat out of the bag just yet, but that was a hint!

I have also started a CLUB [ which is different from a spontaneous room ] on Join Clubhouse called #DesignCoffeeChat. Come join it at https://www.joinclubhouse.com/club/design-coffee-chat. My Club’s members [ there are about 60 now ] are mostly interior designers and people involved in the furniture or interior design industry.

We meet every Saturday morning at 9 am CT to discuss what’s on everyone’s minds. I just listen and invite whomever has raised their hand to come up on stage with me to talk with everyone else who’s listening [ by the way: you can see who’s listening, click on their images and then follow them on Instagram ! ] about… what’s on their minds.

It’s informal and it’s a great way to get your weekend off to a fun start by chatting with your colleagues and friends, and those you want to get to know.

I’ve been so fortunate to have my friend, Jane Dagmi, the Editor In Chief of the esteemed industry trade publication, Designers Today, joining in for those Saturday morning chats. Mostly, Jane listens.

And little did I know Jane was enjoying what she was learning and hearing so much that she featured my CLUB in the new APRIL issue of Designers Today in her HELLO Dear Reader section!

And not only did she feature my club, but she gave a shout out to the launch of my new lifestyle blog, Design Happy Living, launching this Spring, over on https://www.designhappyliving.com.

WHAT A SURPRISE!

Jane: THANK YOU SINCERELY.

If you haven’t seen the new April issue yet, see the link at the end of this post, grab a cup of coffee, and savor every beautiful bit!

Jane always, always hits a home run…and I especially loved her find of custom front door mats on Page 18, because with Spring here, everyone needs a bit of colorful #frontdoordecor for their #designhappyliving homes, right?

This is the first concrete national press result, for my business, that has happened from the time I’ve invested in JOIN CLUBHOUSE so far, but it’s an important one as you know if you’re in the interior design or furniture business.

I am so grateful.

And ..as the co-editor of a consumer facing lifestyle magazine myself, Seasonal Living Magazine, I hope to be able to find more designers on JOIN CLUBHOUSE whose beautiful modern indoor/outdoor work we can feature in future quarterly issues of Seasonal Living Magazine.

If you haven’t yet seen Seasonal Living Magazine, which my company, Savour Partnership, designs and writes for the award winning modern indoor/outdoor furniture brand, Seasonal Living, owned by CEO Gary Pettitt, please see:

https://seasonalliving.com/seasonal-living-magazine and enjoy the video below that we made for the new SPRING 2021 issue.

The mission of this quarterly digital/shoppable consumer facing magazine is to encourage everyone around the world to live more in harmony with the four seasons of Spring. Summer. Fall. Winter. through our sharing of inspiring images, ideas and video on all things seasonal with respect to Food and Recipes. Design. Wellness. Entertaining. Travel.

Back to JOIN CLUBHOUSE and some tips for you!

Right now, Join Clubhouse is only available for IOS [ I Phone users ] but they are working on access for Android users.

It is also still in beta even though they are growing very rapidly, so it is still invite only.

Here’s what you need to do now, though, if you’re an ANDROID user:

1. Find a friend with an IPhone.
2 Download the app.
3. Reserve your usernames: both personally and professionally for your brand.
4. Then, if you have a friend on Join Clubhouse who has extra invites, ask them to invite you in. They will need your phone number or email address as they must add you to their CONTACTS in order for the Join Clubhouse app to find them and allow you to invite them in.
5. When your friend with the invites invites you in, you will receive a TEXT. Respond to that text. You’re in.

Next:

Fill out your bio [ there is no character limit!] and make sure to LINK TO YOUR INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT in your bio. Clubhouse allows for that. The first two lines of your Join Clubhouse BIO are SEARCHABLE to those on Clubhouse. Make them count.

For instance: Are you a luxury interior designer working internationally… or wanting to? Say so immediately like this in your bio: Luxury Interior Designer working internationally. As seen in ______, ______. _____. Build your credibility immediately.

I hope these tips have helped you! I really hope our entire industry will soon be on JOIN CLUBHOUSE, just as we all flocked to Twitter, and then Instagram.

It’s a very powerful and fun tool for relationship building, for spreading important news and for educating and business storytelling - via voice.

It’s excellent for both B2C and B2B and from a B2B standpoint, it’s like a tradeshow on steroids for networking and lead generation. It helps you make those serendipitous connections that matter, 24/7.

I can’t wait to share with you all the launch of https://www.designhappyliving.com later this Spring. I’ve wanted my own lifestyle blog for the longest time, and started an Instagram feed for it 4 years ago, https://www.instagram.com/designhappyliving, which I invite you to follow.

I also invite you to use my tag, #designhappyliving, which is now in wide use on Instagram among people who love pretty colors and create #designhappyliving homes for themselves or others or who design products which lend themselves to my curated aesthetic.

I’ve seen the first iteration of my full site now, and it’s so beautiful. I can’t wait to see what develops from a brand collaboration standpoint, and invite you to connect with me at leslie@savourpartnership.com if you’re interested in that, even now, before my launch.

Jane: thank you again for being the very first trade magazine editor to make mention of it: I so appreciate it!

You, Jane, have helped me, #designhappyliving, for myself.
