WHY SHOULD YOU CONSIDER ATTENDING LIGHTOVATION 2020?
LIGHTOVATION: Dallas International Lighting Show is fast approaching!
Why attend LIGHTOVATION? To see EVERYTHING available in the realm of internationally award winning lighting for both residential homes and commercial applications. It is the largest wholesale lighting tradeshow in North America. Lighting buyers from around the world attend it - whether they own showrooms and retail stores or whether they are independent lighting designers or interior designers.
Held in conjunction with the first major tradeshow of the new decade, Dallas Market Center’s Total Home and Gift Show which takes place from January 8th through the 14th, the LIGHTOVATION show takes place from Jan. 8th -12th, and is held in the Trade Mart building (part of the DMC complex) on floors 3 and 4.
There is nothing that compares, especially when it comes to lighting, to being able to use all 5 of your senses ( the theme for this January 2020 Dallas Market Center’s show) to see, touch, feel, hear (does that fixture make a faint buzzing sound when it’s plugged in?) and smell ( light fixtures now incorporate aromatherapy elements for wellness in design ) all the different options available for your customers and clients.
( NOTE: If you are a homeowner or commercial property owner reading this, this show is a wholesale tradeshow only, not open to the general public. Please ask your local lighting showroom or your lighting or interior designer for information on anything you will see in this post as you read further, and they can help you.

#LIGHTOVATION is so full of stunningly beautiful light fixtures for every conceivable application that it’s hard to absorb it all.
In addition to seeing all of the lighting available, LIGHTOVATION’s educational programming, the gala events, the fun parties, and the networking at both LIGHTOVATION and Dallas Market Center are first class!
Re: the educational programming:
I am excited to share that I will be one of LIGHTOVATION’s keynote speakers to kick off this new decade!
This will be a return visit for me with respect to keynoting at LIGHTOVATION and I am very appreciative of the past attendees of my presentations (if you are one of them, thank you!) for their evaluations.
It is because of these evaluations that I’ve been invited to keynote again. My presentations are complimentary and they are open to all attendees of LIGHTOVATION and Dallas Market Center’s Total Home and Gift Show.
My presentations will be held on Thursday, January 9th at 10 am and 2 pm in the #SMARTcenter, which is located on the 4th floor of the Trade Mart building in TM 4826.
The 10 am presentation is for all attendees who are newer to the use of social media and will help those who attend think strategically about exactly what tools to use (given limited time) and how to use those social media tools to actually increase sales - and to be able to track that increase.
The 2 pm presentation is for all attendees who are already digitally saavy. I will discuss advanced social media strategies, including the use of chat bots and advanced online advertising strategies to develop leads, increase trackable sales and provide better customer service.
There are many events going on at LIGHTOVATION and Dallas Market Center in addition to my own, and there are two I am particularly excited about seeing.
First on my list is seeing the keynote presentation by AERIN, Estee Lauder’s granddaughter, about Building a Lifestyle Brand* on Friday, January 10th at 1 pm on the ATRIUM stage. AERIN is also the designer of a beautiful collection of lighting for Visual Comfort & Co.
After AERIN’s presentation, I will be heading back over to the Trade Mart building, Floor 3 by the back elevators, to see Dallas Market Center’s adorable new E Tuk food truck for Tacos and Cervesas and a few Instagrammable moments with my friends.
Can you believe how adorable these are? All I know is: I want one. I can just see it now for #DesignHappyLiving, can’t you?
Back to the lighting! But, seriously, are you getting the PICTURE by now about why #LIGHTOVATION is so much fun to attend….besides being so important to attend?
Here’s an image I took at a previous LIGHTOVATION of another fixture I loved. So sparkly!
Laura Van Zeyl, the Vice President of Lighting Technology Development and Marketing for LIGHTOVATION, is also responsible for all leasing of this show, and she has some wonderful new exhibitors showing, including Acuity Brands who will be showing their Juno AI recessed light that features a built-in JBL speaker and Amazon Alexa hub.
Acuity’s recessed light is sure to be interesting to all interested in the integration of smart lighting with smart homes.
Also, Accord Lighting will be there for the first time with some beautiful wood veneer lighting from Brazil, Artika, a Canadian architectural lighting brand, will be showing and Beacon Lighting, an Australian lighting brand with ceiling fans will be showing.
For those of you who need ceiling fans, Aeratron ( a new ceiling fan brand), will be showing and Viz Glass is also a new exhibitor, with a well priced line of colorful glass fixtures and accessories.
FYI: Nathan Frampton, the CEO of Fanimation, is using the new social media video tool that’s all the rage with young kids: TIK TOK. If you know what TIK TOK is..head on over there and follow him!
It’s great to see these global brands leasing space at LIGHTOVATION to show their lighting to North American buyers. I am looking forward to seeing them all.
However, I will always have a special place reserved for the Vermont based Hubbardton Forge, whose full product line is only on display at LIGHTOVATION and which always causes my heart to go pitter patter with the beauty of their craftsmanship and design.
The image below is from their website and the image below this one is one I took at a previous LIGHTOVATION show.
There are so many events happening at LIGHTOVATION and Dallas Market Center, but a few more key ones I think you will really enjoy:
FOR AWARD WINNING PRODUCTS
1. Carson Kressley and Thom Filicia are not only hosting the ARTS AWARDS on Friday night, but they will be present for the Preview party on Thursday starting at 6 pm in WTC 531 where there is a gallery set up featuring all of the manufacturing and product design finalists. All are invited whether you are attending the #ARTSAWARDS or not!
This is sure to be fun and another very Instagrammable moment for national #bizibility.
FOR CELEBRATION
If you want to meet a very dynamic under 40 female leader in the lighting industry, COO Naomi Sperling Goldman, make sure to attend Maxim Lighting’s 50th anniversary celebration ( a big bash! ) in TM 3901 on Wednesday night at 6:30pm. From what I hear, they are going all out with a 1970’s theme…this is sure to be fun!
FOR ALL THINGS SMART HOME
A don’t miss? Samsung’s new display of its The Wall Luxe modular LED screen, which takes up an entire wall, in the newly expanded Smarter Living By Design multi brand showroom space located in the Light + Design center on the 10th floor of the World Trade Center bldg. Samsung is hosting a tailgate party to show off their smart TV’s during the NFL playoffs on Sunday! How fun is that? See it all in WTC 10085!
Lastly,
THE ARTS AWARDS
The Arts Awards are like the OSCARS of the furniture industry, seriously. They are black tie/formal and the entire furniture, lighting and decor industry shows up. Be prepared to be DAZZLED on Friday night!
It makes me happy to share with you that one of our Savour Partnership clients, Gary Pettitt, the owner of the indoor/outdoor furniture, lighting and decorative accessories brand, Seasonal Living, is a 5x Arts Award winner and is now in the #ARTSAWARDS Hall of Fame.
Because Seasonal Living is in the Hall of Fame (the first indoor/outdoor furniture manufacturer to be accorded this honor), they are not eligible to win it again.
Seasonal Living’s lighting line is a relatively small portion of their offerings, so they don’t show it at Dallas Market, but Gary offers something very few other lighting lines do. .and that is CORDLESS, LED indoor/outdoor lighting.
My favorite lighting fixture is this one, his INDA, which can be put anywhere, indoors or out.
Gary is also the publisher of the consumer facing, shoppable luxury lifestyle publication, Seasonal Living Magazine, which my company, Savour Partnership, designs and writes for him.
The mission of the magazine is to inspire you to live a life in harmony with the four seasons of Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall, via inspiring images and fun, informative articles on all things seasonal in Travel. Food. Entertaining. Wellness. Design.
The magazine is growing fast and we’ve just expanded it and redesigned it for 2020. I will have some print copies with me at LIGHTOVATION/DALLAS MARKET, so if you see me and would like one, please ask!
Here’s an image of the Table of Contents from the inside of our current issue.
Enjoy your own complimentary subscription to it by clicking, here. !
Lastly, I want to wish my good friend, Jeanne Choe Chung, the owner of www.cozystylishchic.com, out in Pasadena, CA, the best of luck as she is up for the 2020 RETAILER OF THE YEAR Arts Award for her region!
Jeanne: I am keeping my fingers crossed for you!
Denise McGaha won for Interior Designer Of The Year this year, and as you can see from the sheer joy on her face, there’s no better feeling than to be up on that big stage, before your peers, being recognized for your achievements!
I hope all of you who can, will make it a point to come to #LIGHTOVATION 2020 at Dallas Market Center in just a few weeks now, but if you can’t make this show, the JUNE show will be coming up afterwards, so please try to make plans to attend that one!
