Get 2 Free Nights At Hilton Anatole If First Time Attendee

Are You A First Time Attendee Of Lightovation At Dallas Market? You Might Qualify For Two Free Nights At The Hilton Anatole.

My favorite tradeshow, #Lightovation, North America’s largest residential lighting tradeshow, is coming up Jan. 8th - 11th at Dallas Market Center, with Interior Designer Preview Day on Tuesday, January 7th.

Laura Van Zeyl, Vice President of Marketing for Lightovation, is offering all first time attendees, whether they are interior designers, kitchen and bath designers, lighting designers and/or lighting retailers, [ who are qualified to buy wholesale at Dallas Market ] two free nights at the gorgeous Hilton Anatole hotel.

I always stay at the Hilton Anatole when possible, as it’s right across the street from Dallas Market Center , free shuttles run daily, and it’s got the most peaceful lobby of any large convention hotel I’ve ever stayed in. It’s been designed around feng shui and biophilic principles and the rooms are large and updated.

I took the below picture of the Anatole’s lobby at night when I stayed there this past June.

When To Attend

If you’re an interior or kitchen and bath designer seeing this post, you will want to be there all day Tuesday, the 7th, for Interior Designer Preview Day + all day Wednesday, the 8th for the programming and the tours.

Depending on where you live in the country, you’ll want to arrive on Monday night or very early Tuesday morning, and then stay through Wednesday night or leave as late as possible on Wednesday.

It’s possible you might have to book an extra night to accomplish this if you’re coming in from the coasts…and additional extra nights if you also want to shop Dallas’ Total Home and Gift Show + stay for the Arts Awards on Friday night at the Anatole.

The Arts Awards are the home industry’s major black tie gala networking event of the year and an amazing and heartwarming celebration of the home industry’s best talent across many categories.

Today, the day this post will go live, Dec. 4th, 2024, is the birthday of Laura Van Zeyl, shown with me below in June at Kuzco Lighting, who has been a friend of mine for more than 20 years now, before she was working as Vice President of Marketing for Lightovation.

Laura is THE expert in lighting and has held many major positions in her career, both as the Editor In Chief of Residential Lighting Magazine, Vice President of Leasing for Lightovation, Vice President of Attendance For Lightovation and now, Vice President of Marketing for Lightovation.

Noone has done more to build this tradeshow - and for the lighting industry overall - than Laura.

Plus, her philanthropic endeavors are legendary on behalf of the H Foundation, started by lighting retailer, John Rot, which raises money for original cancer research each year through their Goombay Bash held in Chicago, where Laura lives.

Laura: Happy Birthday! I hope this day is as special for you as you are to me.

Leading the way for the interior design community at Lightovation and at Dallas Market Center, is Ginger Hartford, whom many of you might already know. Ginger started working at Dallas Market Center last year and has done a stellar job of uniting the design community around all that Dallas Market Center and Lightovation have to offer.

Her business and social saavy have helped to catapult Dallas Market Center as a premier design destination in the minds of designers around the country and internationally.

I took this picture of Ginger in June, next to the fabulous copper cappuccino machine inside Minka Lighting, where my very good real life friend, Robin Baron, has her lighting collection for Minka Lighting. They serve the best cappuchino..and it’s free.

Don’t miss it if you attend!!

Lightovation is always such a fun event! I love not only seeing all the beautiful lighting, but seeing long time friends and meeting new ones at the various events held there like the Women In Lighting event.

Here’s Maria Mullen, CEO of Hubbardton Forge and Chairwoman of Lightovation’s Board of Directors, hugging a long time friend and mentor to her after at this past June’s Lightovation event, where Maria was given the American Lighting Association’s Women In Lighting Leadership award.

Below is Robin Burrill, NCIDQ, CEO and principal interior designer for Keller, TX based Signature Home Services, the Dallas/Ft. Worth area’s premier kitchen and bath remodeling firm, as photographed by Patrick of @am2pm_images.

Robin is a frequent Lightovation attendee and also shops Dallas Market for her clients.

In business with Rob, her partner and husband for 30 years, their quarterly magazine, Signature Home Style, [ which you can subscribe to, here, ] will be showcasing the best of lighting at January 2025 Lightovation since Robin will be one of Dallas Market Center’s official Style Eyes at the January show, with an emphasis on covering what’s trending at Lightovation. I’m so excited for Robin!

Robin’s recent blog post, *How Lighting Trends Play Up The Art of Lighting in Interior Design*, is an excellent read for all of you that love lighting, too, and want to learn more. Enjoy it here.

Another long time friend of mine Lori Carpenter, CEO of Arkansas based Lori Carpenter Designs, also frequently attends Lightovation. This is a picture that Patrick took of her at June Lightovation. { Are you noticing how her nails match the flowers? Lavender is Lori’s brand color ].

Lori will have an exciting new initiative to announce for her business in January 2025 - stay tuned for that!

Despite having been to Lightovation many, many times, I’m always finding new fixtures to love, and the below pic shows one of them that I found at June 2024 Lightovation from Eglo. Aren’t those ceiling shadows beautiful? I also love that they made these pendants in different sizes.

I never leave Lightovation without a long look around the Kuzco showroom. Their lighting is some of my favorite because they are so innovative. This is the company that partnered with celebrity jewelry designer, Hannah Jewett, to bring to market the first collection of lighting fixtures ever designed with the help of AI - which I wrote about here.

Last market, they gifted me with one of their small Marni LED table lamps by their partner brand, Alora. I had fallen in love with this light when I saw it in their showroom a few markets ago.

The base is equipped with a dimmer, it’s rechargeable, and it throws off an exquisite lighting pattern when placed on a flat surface, as you can see from the image below that I took of it in my own home.

In addition to all of the programming going on for Interior Designer Preview Day on Tuesday, the 7th, I will be moderating this panel discussion on the following day, Wednesday, the 8th.

I’m really looking forward to this and hope you will put it on your calendar for 2 pm.

Speaking of Interior Designer Preview Day, the following 3 images showcase the programming going on for that day. I’m especially looking forward to hearing Barclay speak at Fine Art Lighting, as his take on business is always intelligent and well informed.

Lastly, I want to publicly thank you, Nina Magon Studio, for sharing this image of me [ taken by Patrick ] with your Instagram followers.

Patrick selected this background for this image, without my knowledge, and without knowing that this was Nina’s fixture for Studio M Lighting.

Studio M is another exhibitor whose new introductions I always enjoy seeing, as their designer collaborations are always cutting edge.

You may remember that one of Studio M Lighting’s fixtures was used over the kitchen island in the Metaverse Trendhouse Lighting installation.

That installation is now gone, but I will always have very happy memories of my outstanding collaboration with the DMC team and the Lightovation team for that major event which opened in January of this year and was seen again in June of this year.

My partners in it who made it possible: rendering artist and interior designer, Annilee Waterman, wrote this fabulous post about her development of it, and IBB Fine Furnishings owner and Dallas based interior designer, Shay Geyer, wrote this post about her involvement.

I wrote a long blog post about it here, if you’d like to find out more and then I wrote this post about how all lighting retailers can utilize this free piece of content [ that Lightovation’s board of directors voted to underwrite ] in their own marketing efforts to attract new customers.

To wrap up, I want to say how much I am looking forward to seeing many of you at Lightovation in January, but if you can’t attend, I invite you to follow the hashtag, #Lightovation, on Instagram and Facebook.

However, don’t forget, after Dec. 13th, you will have to search for images from that tag, or any hashtag you follow, as they won’t automatically appear in your feed anymore.
