Top Interior Design Experts Discuss Color Trends For 2025

Each year, Fixr, a top site for consumers seeking remodeling information for their homes, identifies top interior design experts in their Top 125 Interior Design Experts report and then asks them to contribute their opinions to a series of articles they write for their site’s visitors.

Although I don’t practice interior design anymore, I’ve been honored to have been included in this list for the past 3 years, including in their 2025 Top Interior Design Experts list.

Fixr has just come out with their Interior Design & Color Trends Report for 2025, which asked all of their 2025 interior design experts their opinions on color trends for 2025, and the ones who answered Fixr’s questions are shown in the below image.

Several members of my private Facebook community for interior designers, Design Wealth, were also included in Fixr’s 2025 Top Interior Design Experts list, and I created the image below so you can meet them.

Note: Not all of these designers answered Fixr’s questions for their new 2025 Color Trends Report, but several did and you will see their quotes in the new report.

So what were some of the color trend insights provided by the interior design experts who contributed to this report?

First up is what the expert contributors selected as their favorite Color Of The Year for 2025, as identified by these major paint manufacturers.

Truffle, a rich chocolate brown, by Lowe’s exclusive in house paint brand, Stainmaster, took almost 1/4 of the vote. Does that surprise you - or not?

Since Benjamin Moore’s Color Of The Year 2025, Cinnamon Slate, was not yet announced when these questions were posed to us, I thought it would be fun to include it here since it’s in the brown family, too.

I also LOVE that Benjamin Moore now lets you create a digital dollop of their COTY 2025 for use in your presentations, blogs, newsletters, mood boards, etc.

Such smart marketing!

And although Quieteude, HGTV Home’s collaboration with Sherwin Williams was one of our choices, Sherwin Williams’ own COTY 2025 wasn’t included, because, this year, there wasn’t one.

Instead, to mark their 15th year of having a Color Of The Year, Sherwin Williams decided to choose an entire color palate, 9 colors in all, to showcase where they believe the future of color trends is headed.

Again, you can see they lead with a medium brown called Grounded.

[ Note: I also checked with Farrow & Ball, but they don’t have a Color Of The Year - yet, and, we are all waiting for Pantone’s Color Of The Year announcement, coming this month. ]

WSGN, one of the top trend forecasting agencies in the world, chose Transformative Teal as their Color Of The Year for 2025. As you can see, Valspar’s COTY 2025 called ENCORE, is also a blue, but this choice has more vibrancy and is a welcome option for those of us who love punchier, brighter colors.

Now, onto the next graphic from Fixr’s Color Trends 2025 Report, showing what all of the contributors chose as the most popular interior color trends for 2025, with color drenching [ a monochromatic paint scheme where every surface in a room is painted the same color or a slight variation on that color - walls, moldings, ceilings ] taking the top spot.

Here’s an excellent example of color drenching from Farrow and Ball. Notice how even the radiator and window frame are painted the same rich sage green.

Fixr, thank you for including this quote from me [ and link to my website ] in your report. I appreciate it and I know all of my Design Wealth community members who were also quoted appreciate it, too.

There are so many other interesting findings to read in Fixr’s Color Trends 2025 Report, including what colors the interior design experts think are the best colors to paint your living room and bedroom to add value to your home if you plan to sell it in 2025.
